What is ‘Pay It Forward’?

Ever had someone do something kind for you out of nowhere? Maybe a stranger shouted a warning just in time to save you from an oncoming car. Or back in your student days, when your wallet was nearly empty, someone quietly slipped you a $5 note so you could buy dinner — and then walked away before you could even say thank you.
You never forgot it. That moment of kindness stayed with you for years, but you never got the chance to repay it.
Passing the Kindness On
That’s where the idea of Pay It Forward comes in. It’s about passing the kindness on — doing something good for someone else, instead of paying back the original giver. Over time, this simple act creates a ripple effect, where one good deed inspires another and another.
Think of it like Newton’s First Law of Kindness — once a good deed is set in motion, it tends to keep going… unless stopped by an unnecessary dose of grumpiness.
